Description

Petit Verdot rarely gets to be the star of the show. In its Bordeaux homeland, it ripens too late and too inconsistently to be bottled on its own — it spends its days as a seasoning grape, adding colour and spice to famous blends. The South Okanagan’s desert heat changes everything. In Osoyoos, where growing degree days match or exceed the warmest parts of Bordeaux, Petit Verdot achieves the full ripeness it needs to stand alone — and what it produces is one of the most genuinely distinctive wines in our entire portfolio.

Dense and inky violet in the glass — the colour alone tells you this is something different. The nose offers ripe, rich aromas of plum and blackberry with a complexity and seriousness that demands attention. On the palate, solid tannins frame a full-bodied expression of blackcurrant, spice and hints of tobacco, building to a finish that is long, structured and rewarding. Rated 92 points by John Schreiner, with a Gold Medal at the San Francisco International Wine Competition 2023, a Silver Medal at the All Canadian Wine Championships 2025, a Silver Medal at the National Wine Align Awards 2023 and a Bronze Medal at the Pacific Rim Wine Competition 2024.

A rare single-varietal Petit Verdot that could only come from Osoyoos.

Few wineries in Canada even attempt a single-varietal Petit Verdot — Bordertown’s version is a genuine collector’s wine and an outstanding conversation piece at any table. Pair it with aged beef, braised oxtail or beef cheeks, dark chocolate, strong blue cheese (Roquefort or Stilton), or a hearty bean and chorizo stew. Decant for 45–60 minutes and give it space to open fully.

BC VQA certified. Cellar-worthy for 5–10 years.
