Description
The Living Desert Red is Bordertown’s most celebrated wine — the bottle that made the winery’s reputation and continues to earn recognition year after year. The 2013 vintage received the BC Lieutenant Governor’s Award of Excellence. The 2019 vintage rated 91 points by John Schreiner and earned a Gold Medal at the LA International Wine Competition 2022, Gold Medals at the All Canadian Wine Championships 2022 and 2023, and Silver Medals at the National Wine Align Awards 2022 and 2023.
Named for the living desert of Osoyoos — Canada’s only true pocket desert — this wine is a Bordeaux-inspired blend of Cabernet Franc (40%), Merlot (34%), Cabernet Sauvignon (22%) and Petit Verdot (4%), aged separately in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels. The result is a wine of remarkable complexity: aromas and flavours of red and black fruits, dark chocolate, sandalwood and the wild herbs that grow amongst the region’s vineyards — a genuinely distinctive aromatic signature that no other BC wine can claim.
The wine that started it all — and still leads the portfolio. T
he Living Desert Red is built for important occasions and exceptional food. Ideal alongside grilled ribeye, braised short ribs cooked in the wine itself, rack of lamb with a blackberry glaze, wood-fired pizza and aged cheeses. An outstanding gift — a bottle that communicates quality and thoughtfulness to anyone who receives it.
