Description
The 2019 vintage is one of the finest growing seasons in recent Okanagan memory — long, warm and consistent, producing fruit of exceptional concentration and structure across all our red varieties. Bordertown’s Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 is a direct expression of that outstanding year: a wine with the depth, complexity and age-worthiness that only a truly great vintage can deliver.
Like all Bordertown Cabernet Sauvignon, it is built on the foundation of blackcurrant and dark berry fruit with the classic hints of bell pepper and mint that are the hallmark of South Okanagan Cab Sauv. But in the 2019, these elements arrive with more intensity and layering — the tannins are firmer, the mid-palate is broader, the finish is longer. Recognition came in the form of a Platinum Medal at the WineAlign National Wine Awards of Canada 2022 — one of the highest individual accolades in Canadian wine, reserved for wines of exceptional quality and typicity.
A library vintage for those who understand what great Okanagan red wine can become with time.
Now entering an ideal drinking window, the 2019 Cab Sauv is at its best alongside a serious meal: dry-aged beef, slow-braised lamb, hearty cassoulet or a mature hard cheese board. Those who choose to continue cellaring will be rewarded — this wine has the structure to develop for several more years.
