For 77 years, the Los Angeles International Wine Competition has showcased the finest domestic and international vintages through a wine-tasting event that is widely considered to be one of the most prestigious in the United States.
The prestigious competition, celebrating its 78th year takes took place May 17 and 18 at Fairplex, home of the LA County Fair.
Big on longevity and stature, an impressive international panel of esteemed judges — from Master Sommeliers to chefs to wine writers — use a point system to award medals to the best wines in the world.
Last year, the wine competition saw 3,010 international wines tasted, receiving entries from 23 countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, England, France, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Portugal, Romania, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Ukraine, Uruguay and the United States of America.
